Harvest Festival 2022 will be a celebration of the
FOOD AND FARMING HERITAGE of this region
The Bungendore Harvest Festival is an annual celebration of the integrity and freshness of the region’s local produce, cold climate food, drink and fibre. It explores and promotes how produce is grown in this region, where it is grown, where consumers may access it, how to prepare it, use it, eat it and drink it.
Harvest Festival 2020 was supposed to be the year of adaption, however it ended up being the year of cancellation. The extreme conditions that the region had experienced had already taken an enormous toll on our farmers and producers when COVID came along and added insult to injury. However, the delightful upside of all the struggle of the past few years has been seeing the local community pull together to adapt, rally and rebuild. The support for local food and farming businesses has been overwhelming and gratifying and we are certainly a stronger community that we were. Harvest Festival 2021 was a celebration of the year’s bountiful harvest, despite all the trials and tribulations, and the resilience of our amazing community.
TASTING THE REGION
Eat your way through the festival starting on Friday with the Harvest Festival Launch Event, and continuing throughout the weekend, you can taste your way around a myriad of local eating establishments showcasing locally sourced ingredients and products. The Harvest Festival Market on Saturday will also have a huge choice of local foods, breakfast morning tea and lunch, prepared by the growers themselves. The Festival culminates in our Harvest Heritage Long Lunch on Sunday.
SUNDAY LONG LUNCH, FARM TOURS & WORKSHOPS
Festival Sunday is a day of experiences. Southern Harvest will also be holding our annual Harvest Long Lunch fundraising event. In addition to this there will be a choice of local farm tours and workshops in the morning and the afternoon, for a full day of local food and farming learning and feasting.
